Plans for the New Year

Well, now there's a subject you don't normally see from me.  I think the near future is getting a little clearer and I thought I'd let you know what my plans were for at least the next several months.

First, I'd like to fill you in on my recent activities here in Pensacola.  Between Sundays and Christmas, I have had the opportunity to attend four different churches in the past couple of weeks.  Besides staying current with my home church, First Presbyterian in Fargo, I have gone to a Unitarian Service with Mary Ann and Stu in Charleston, a Methodist Christmas Eve service with Char here in Pensacola, and again last Sunday with Char at the Hillcrest Baptist Church.  All have been interesting, and each has its own different take on religion.  I would have been able to add Char's nondomination church next Sunday, but we're not going to be in Pensacola (more on that later).

We've spent the last week or so running errands, working on Sif, doing some yardwork, and just generally relaxing and helping out around the house here.  We're looking forward to the New Year and visitors/friends to help continue the celebration thru the end of December.

This coming weekend, Char and I are heading over to Jacksonville, Florida to work on a project with the Nomads.  It's going to be three weeks working on church facilities there and I'm looking forward to seeing how the Nomads operate and what we can do to help out.  We have to be in Jacksonville by 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, so we plan on leaving Pensacola Saturday. We'll stay at the Stephen Foster State Park Saturday night and then head to Jacksonville on Sunday.  Sounds like a neat historical park to check out and learn more about Stephen Foster.  Nomads will provide campsites with hook-ups in Jacksonville near the facility we'll be working on.  As I understand it, we work on the project from Monday through Thursday and then have a three-day weekend to explore the area,

That'll take care of most of January.  Afterwards, I plan on returning to Pensacola for a week or so and then head up to Fargo.  Need to work on my taxes and take care of things at home.  I may have an opportunity to take a charter flight out of Fargo to Laughlin the first week in March which will be a nice warm change.  When I return from Laughlin, I'll head East to see Tim & Kathy, Tom & Carolyn and Char (again).  Char is heading on a mission to Africa toward the end of March and leaving from Vermont.  I'll watch Cousteau while she's gone.  Of course, the added bonus is the impending birth of two great grandchildren.  My present plan is to leave Sif here in Pensacola (or Canoe at the barn dominium) and just drive Thor on the trip North and then East.  When I'm finished in the Northeast, I can come back to Florida and pick up the trailer.

That's as far as my future plans go right now; however, everything is subject to change - depending on health, weather, etc.  But I do look forward to seeing everyone in 2026.  You all take care.
